The Lord has blessed me with many gifts and talents in the fields of education, writing, and technology as well as a passion for learning and understanding His Word. I am thankful for those gifts and passions and I try to use them to spread His Word to others.

Happy Fall Y’all! 🍂

I have been quiet here on IG for two reasons:

1.) I have been prioritizing my family, home, work, and church. Social media has just been placed on the back burner, and when I do have down time, I have been reading.

2.) Social media, even Reformed circles with faithful Christians sharing content from their ministries, has become very noisy. So noisy that I was starting to wonder who I was listening to more—the Holy Spirit or the “influencers” on social media. After much prayer and guidance from the “Titus 2 women” in my life, my husband, and my pastor; I decided to take some time away. And I am still not “back”. And honestly, I will not post like I used to when I started this account.

Please know I am super thankful for you all that do follow along and message me to check in. Those messages mean so much to me, and know you are loved and prayed for! ❤️ Soli Deo Gloria! ❤️

BJ and I are trying something new this week using

BJ and I are trying something new this week using our chalk wall: A reminders wall for us regarding our family devotion, personal studies, reading time (called quiet time), a hymn we want to sing throughout the week (and after quiet time), and connection points for fellowship this week. 💙

It has been on our hearts to make sure we are actively living our lives around the Gospel and our hope is every time we see this wall this week, we will take a second to praise the Lord, pray for someone, reflect on the goodness of God, sing to Him, ask each other about what we are learning in our individual studies, open our Bible, etc.

And some might say we do not have to have a wall to do those things (or we shouldn’t have to have a wall to do those things), and you would be right, but visual reminders work well for BJ and I! 💙 Plus it is fun to have an organized structure to our weeks and our study time together as a family as well as separate. 🥰

After a long few days of reorganizing, decluttering, and DIYing; I was finally able to decorate my kitchen island. 🍋🌿

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the two greenery arrangements right next to one another, but I love it. 🥰🌿 Whenever I decorate, I experiment and try new things to see what I like. If I don’t end up loving it, I change it out. ☺️

I love making my home more cozy and functional with all the ideas and tricks from Pinterest and Instagram, and adapting those ideas to fit my home and family. 💙

A lot of our lillies are starting bloom and are looking so beautiful. Some have very pretty leaves that are huge! 🥰

As for veggies and herbs, our corn is growing amazingly and so is our oregano plant. 👏🏼

All in all, not bad for our first (real) year! 🌿

Love Like You Mean It by Bob Lepine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I was about to get married I read all kinds of marriage books, received all kinds of advice (mostly unsolicited), and heard all kinds of overused, unexplained phrases like “marriage is a lot of work”.

While all of this was very well intended by my desire to be a good wife and the efforts of those around BJ and I who (I hope) wanted us to succeed, I never understood what it really meant to be a wife. That is until I became a true follower of Christ and started to attend a Biblically sound church (and I am not just saying that because the author, Bob Lepine, is my pastor 😉)!

Love Like You Mean It is a well written exposition of 1 Corinthians 13, the well known “love” passage. Bob breaks down each characteristic of love (patience, kindness, humility, generosity, honesty, etc.) in a way that the reader can understand. While he unpacks the meaning of each word by providing the Greek word and it’s definition and context, he also accompanies it with a metaphor, analogy, or personal anecdote to make sure that the reader gets a full understanding.

Diagrams, hymn lyrics, cross references, and quotes and commentaries from Bible teachers throughout time also help provide insight to the meaning of agape love and God’s purposeful design of marriage.

This book is also not written in a way that just fills your head with knowledge, but provides thought-provoking questions and gives Biblical advice and encouragement to husbands and wives to live out the commandments of loving God and loving others. 💙

Overall, Love Like You Mean It is a wonderful book for those who are about to get married and those who are already married. Marriage is so much more than flowers and chocolate, and is so much more than “a lot of work”. It is a picture of God’s unfailing, amazing, and gracious love for us! 💙

Sunday afternoon project: Adding a shelf to my laundry room. 💙

I was able to do this project with the help of my amazing husband, left over wood from a project we did 4 years ago, contact paper we bought 3 years ago, and some brackets bought with a Lowe’s gift card! 🥰😍

This shelf project was easy, “free”, and totally transformed my laundry room! 🧺👏🏼

… Now I am going to cover that wire shelf using a method I saw on Do It On a Dime’s YouTube channel a few years ago. 😊

It’s been a long time since we did a little project, and it felt good to complete one together today! 🥰

One of our peonies opened, and so is one of our lilies! 😍😍😍

Our Roses are thriving! 🥰 I think I am going to cut a few and bring them inside. 💖 (Nothing beats having fresh flowers from your own garden in your home!)

Our veggies are doing well—especially the corn and squash! 🌽

Our wifi timer and soaker hoses are definitely a big help to make sure everything is getting the perfect amount of water.

Now it’s time for us to finish planting everything else! 😊

BJ and I do not really celebrate or make a big deal about Valentine’s Day, but we usually get each other a card and he gets me a dozen red roses! 🌹

Instead of getting him a card this year, I decided to do a chalkboard wall drawing for him. Each heart ❤️ represents a different quality / characteristic that I love about him. (And yes, there is one that says “mine”! 🤣)

I am so thankful for BJ and that the Lord brought him into my life. ❤️
